Mark Hanna Flying the Spitfire

Friday, September 07, 2007   |   posted by Spitfire Site Editor   |   permalink

Here is a great Spitfire video I have located at You Tube today. This is a clip from commercial DVD called A Spitfires Story, showing one of the most popular Spitfires flying today, Mark IX ser. no. MH434. It is flown here by the late Mark Hanna who repeatedly beats up the Duxford airfield, flying straight towards the cameraman. As he banks away and around the field you get that classic beautiful silhouette of the Spitfire against dramatic cloudscapes. Spectacular, graceful and well filmed. It's such a wonderful aircraft in the hands of a fine pilot.

You just have to love the sound of that Spit... And it looks great too :-)

Thanks for the comment, maarten. Yes I agree, and I think that this viedo captures the character of the Spit very well. Now that I posted it on the site, I find myself watching it over and over again :)
