Another update today. This one initiates the new section of the site devoted to the
Technology of the Spitfire.
This article is something of a quick detour from my main work with
Spitfire's operational history. It is also something of an editorial experiment. Rather than creating the entire article from the ground up, I have used portions of material from various
Wikipedia articles as well as public domain material written by John Dell, merging, verifying and filling out the facts and I went along. It is thus a form of derivative work, but I feel that the result is both unique and of high quality. I license it back to
GDFL with a feeling that
everybody gained something.
What do you think about the article?

The Merlin article is a bit weakly focused, talking as much about other engines as about the Merlin.
For example, it mentions that the Kestrel flew in the German Messerschmitt, but it fails to mention that Rolls-Royce used a German Heinkel He 70 as high-performance test bed for the Merlin.
The exact statement about the "first Messerschmitt Bf 109 V1 prototype monoplane fighter" is a bit awkward, too - there was just one V1 (as far as I know), so it would have been the first.
