Noel Barnes' childhood interest in aviation has matured into a passionate enthusiasm, masterfully captured in these expressive paintings in oil and gouache.

This painting shows a pair of tropicalised Spitfires Mk. Vc of No. 1 wing RAAF in the skies over Darwin in early 1943.
