1/32 Cockpit Detailing Pictorial

By Dave Pratt

Greetings from Vancouver, Canada. I'm currently building a clipped-wing 1/32 Hasegawa Spitfire Mk. Vb, to be finished in the markings of No. 403 Squadron RCAF, AE-A, EP120 City of Winnipeg.

Here are a few quick shots of the cockpit with scratchbuilt sides, totally re-worked instrument panel with Waldron instruments as well as their placards, MDC seat and buckles, etc. Sadly the fuselage halves have to be closed after the work had been done, but cockpit entry door modelled in open position allows for pretty good view inside.

MDC resin seat looks the part. Note the two-part armoured plate behind it.

Sidewall detail on both sides of the cockpit was scratchbuilt.

Electric cables and Sutton harness add to the realism.

After joining the fuselage halved, the windscreen is attached early to bland it in as an integral part of the airframe. Once in place it will also protect the gunsight from accidental damage.
