Two pilots of 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group USAAF, Lt E.D. Schofield and Lt R.F. Sargent, demonstrate the British flying kit. Under the Reciprocal Aid Program, USAAF units flying Spitfires were initially using exclusively British equipment, from flying suits and parachutes to fuel bowsers and liaison aircraft.

This is a pair of the series of official British photographs taken during 1942, probably in Westhampnet. The aircraft is Spitfire Mk. V, note the integrated windscreen armour and the prominent armoured plate in front of it covering the fuselage fuel tank. 307th was assigned code letters MX. [American Memory]
