How do you get a realistic Merlin engine sound in a scale RC Spitfire model? The answer is by using a dedicated onboard sound system.

This video demonstrates the first 'in airframe' test of the Benedini Merlin sound system in a 1/4 Scale Spitfire replica. While it doesn't sound loud in the video, standing by the model you really need to shout to be heard over the noise! Two speakers are mounted in the wing root pointing down while a third is mounted in the radiator.
